The truth is always true
“A very large crowd spread their garments on the road. Others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went before Him and that followed Him cried out: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”” Matthew 21:8-9
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the people were enthusiastic and praised Jesus. Many were the people who had experienced or seen miracles that Jesus did. Many were the people who had marveled at Jesus’ teaching and wisdom. Many were those who had been drawn to the mercy and love that came from Jesus. Then there were also those who were upset with Jesus, especially among the religious leaders.
“But the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and kill Jesus. The governor answered, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas.” Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!” The governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, “Let Him be crucified!”” Matthew 27:20-23
It is not at all impossible that some of the people who now shouted, “Let Him be crucified”, had previously joined in shouting, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”. Trends and opinions in society change over time. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. When the large mass moves in a certain direction and group pressure sets in, then you are put to the test. Should one deceive one’s own heart or stand by one’s convictions?
I don’t know what your convictions are, but you can trust the Bible to be the word of God. Let the Bible be your conviction in all situations and times. Follow Jesus with your life, regardless of whether others around you do or not. Follow Jesus with your life, regardless of what others around you think of you, when you follow Jesus.
The truth is solid and secure as a rock and does not change, just because trends and opinions do. In the Bible you see the truth, hold fast to it and follow Him who is the truth.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
God bless you.
