Grenade splinter
When Jesus walked the earth about two thousand years ago, He both preached to the people and healed and freed people who were in need of healing and freedom from the powers of darkness. Jesus has not changed but is the same today. He works on earth today through His people, the believers.
The message about Jesus and His death and resurrection, is not a philosophy but it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes. Salvation, that is to be saved from eternal damnation but also power and help here and now in every area of our lives. God cares about everything that touches our lives.
I remember a man in Asia who came to our outdoor meetings and listened to the message about Jesus. On the last evening he came forward and told what had happened and it is a good example of what this with Jesus is all about.
The country in which he lived and where we preached had recently experienced a civil war. The man had lost family members and many of his friends and had been severely traumatized. He put it like he just felt like a stick, emotionally dead or numb. But during the evenings when he came and listened to the message about Jesus, something had happened.
He said that now he could look to the future with hope, not because circumstances had changed but because something had happened within him. And, the daily physical pain that he had been experiencing in his body was gone. He had a grenade splinter in his body that the doctors could not remove and it had caused daily pain.
This is our Jesus. He is a living Savior, not a philosophy. Jesus transforms us from the inside out. When one turns to Jesus and begins to believe in Him, God’s Spirit enters and takes up residence in the heart. This is powerful and mighty and it brings hope, freedom, joy and light. Circumstances all around are the same, and the fact is that sometimes they can even get worse because there are people who don’t like people coming to believe in Jesus. But what does it matter if you have the most precious treasure in your heart? Your sin forgiven, reconciled to God and on your way to heaven and God as your friend who can and wants to help you in your everyday life. This is what the man in Asia got to experience. Then it is a fact that Jesus heals the sick and frees from pain today as well, both in Asia and in Europe.
Turn to Jesus today and let Him be Lord in your life. Stop pushing this with Jesus to the future. Today you can be reconciled to God and be restored. You can now become a person who follows Jesus. Let the adventure begin.
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call you upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:6-9
Pour out your heart before Jesus. He understands exactly what you mean, it’s not about formulating nice words but giving your heart to Jesus and starting to believe in Him.
