Can myself!?

‭”For, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:3

There usually comes a time in young children’s lives when they say: ‘Can myself’. As a parent, you then have to let them try for themselves and sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don’t. This is part of their development and maturity.

But many people try to establish their own righteousness before God. It is a heavy, difficult and impossible road to walk. Many continue anyway and stick to ‘Can myself’.

I don’t know what your standard is and what your god’s name is, but the God of the Bible only accepts His own standard. We humans can think we measure up and often compare ourselves to others. But before God we all come short. The sooner you understand it, the better.

‭”Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness for every one who believes.” Romans 10:4

Jesus lived a perfect life on earth and there is no one else who has. Whoever believes in Him is declared righteous before God. How is this possible?

“God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus was tempted in everything, but He never sinned. Therefore, He knows how we feel when we are tempted and He both wants and can help us not to fall for the temptations. But when Jesus hung on the cross, the sin of all mankind was placed on Him and He took our punishment. Jesus died on the cross. In Himself, Jesus was sinless, but He died as the atoning sacrifice for us humans and for our sins

On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, which also confirms that He was sinless and innocent in Himself.

Whoever puts their faith in Jesus becomes united with Jesus. Through faith, Jesus lives in the believer’s heart. And here comes the wonderful thing. Whoever believes is made the righteousness of God in Jesus. Not your own righteousness but the righteousness of God. This is grace, it is a gift and it is a work of God.

We can’t ourselves, none of us. We need help, we need a Savior. Are you going to continue like a stubborn little child or are you going to submit to the righteousness of God?

Repent of self-righteousness and sin and believe in Jesus and you will receive the gift of righteousness. And when Jesus lives in your heart, He will help you live a righteous life.

God bless you.
